Coach · Vancouver, British Columbia

I coach because I have been the man in the mirror.

Thirty years in fitness, close to two decades running CrossFit BC, and a few hard lessons about what actually changes a life. This is how I got here, what I am qualified in, and how I coach the men who show up at DadBody.

The long road to DadBody

I started as a climber. Ten years on outdoor crags and indoor walls, including belaying at kids' climbing parties, which taught me more patience than any certification ever did.

After that came eight years as a Tae Kwon Do, kickboxing and boxing instructor, a black belt, and more than a few gold medals in local competitions. Then I found CrossFit, and it rewired how I thought about programming, intensity and group training.

That led to CrossFit BC in Vancouver, which my wife Christie and I have run for close to two decades, and to MERGE, the consulting side where I help gym owners build businesses that do not depend on the founder. Every part of that history shows up in DadBody: the barbell work, the martial-arts discipline, the small-group accountability, and the understanding that a man's life outside the gym determines what happens inside it.

Credentials do not make a coach, but they set a floor. I keep current certifications in the areas I actually use: strength and conditioning, nutrition coaching, health coaching, and the emergency side of running a gym.

How I coach

I do not sell transformations. I sell the boring work that makes a transformation stick, and the accountability that keeps it from sliding backward.

Every man who joins DadBody gets a coach who knows his name, his starting point, and the difference between a hard week and a disappearing act. The technology is there to keep the thread alive between conversations, not to replace them.

The base is simple. We start with a DEXA scan and a food log so we are not guessing. We build the daily practice around the 15/5/10 ritual: fifteen minutes of movement, five of stillness, ten of reading something that makes you better. Small enough to survive a bad Tuesday. Repeated enough to matter.

From there we add load, conditioning and skill in the right order. Most men over 40 do not need more intensity. They need a better base, better sleep, better food, and someone who notices when they go quiet.

What you will not get from me

No six-minute abs. No supplement stack. No cheat-day logic.

No program that only works if your job, your kids and your sleep suddenly cooperate. If a plan depends on your life being easy, it will fail the week your life is not.

No app that pretends to know you. The moat of DadBody is that I know who you are, I know why you are here, and I know how you are doing. That does not scale through software. It scales through small groups and one coach paying attention.
