The four that matter
Testosterone drifts down with age, but much faster with poor sleep, belly fat and no lifting. Cortisol stored high pushes fat to your middle. Insulin works worse when you carry extra weight and move less. Short sleep scrambles the hormones that regulate hunger.
What to fix first
- Lift two or three times a week.
- Sleep seven hours or close to it.
- Eat protein at each meal, mostly food that looks like food.
- Take alcohol seriously: it suppresses testosterone and adds the calories that land on your waist.
Give those four things eight to twelve honest weeks before you judge.
When it actually is medical
Crushing fatigue that rest does not lift, low mood that will not move, loss of morning erections, or weight gain that makes no sense against your habits all deserve a proper blood test. Ask your doctor, and bring your symptoms in writing.
