The Monday morning challenge

Many begrudge Mondays because it symbolizes the grind, regular life, the nine to five. Well, is that not just a perspective?

FIG. 01One conditioned belief about one day sets the tone for the week.

It is freaking Monday. Yes.

Mondays are about starting anew. They are considered by many as the first day of the seven day week and are the day when the kids head back to school and parents back to work, after a nice weekend of fun, fitness, and family.

Many begrudge Mondays because it symbolizes the grind, regular life, the nine to five, responsibilities, commitments. Well, is that not just a perspective? A conditioned perception of Mondays?

How did you come up with this opinion of Mondays?

Think back and introspect about what Mondays mean to you

I find that many of us have opinions or views that have formed somewhere along our paths to life. They become truths which we wear like a badge of honor. And many of these badges, when challenged, create stress, conflict, and unhappiness because we feel it challenges who we are as a person. But these opinions or beliefs, especially when creating negativity or holding us back in our lives, need to be challenged as they are holding us back from being awesomely happy and reaching our lifestyle goals.

Think about it.

If you are anti-Mondays and consider them the worst day of the week, detesting everything they stand for, then what kind of tone does this set for your week?

Your first day of the week has already influenced every day thereafter. You will walk with a heavy foot, you will crawl out of bed after hitting the snooze button a few times, you will express your dissatisfaction to the fact that you have to go to work, and so on.

Man, that is no fun.

But what if you started to love Mondays?

What if you were pumped to wake up Monday morning and start your week on a huge positive?

What if you get up before your alarm because you know that you have an incredible week ahead of new experiences, great conversations, purposeful work, and self-care?

What if you created a space in your life where every day was like that?

Would it make a difference to you?

Today I challenge you to wake up Monday morning and say, hey Monday, today is going to be the best Monday of my life.

Then, get out of bed with purpose. With a jump. With a smile on your face.

Carry that energy with you all day as you remember that every day you have the beautiful opportunity to choose how you see the world, along with the direction you are traveling in your life.

You are freaking awesome and Mondays are just another day for you to share that awesomeness with the world.

So, you up for the Monday challenge?

One removal. The original quoted Tom Waits at this point and the quotation itself did not survive the export from LinkedIn, leaving an attribution with nothing attached to it. Rather than invent a quote, the line is gone. Everything else is as it ran.
